Chat Search Fixes, Relevance Tweaks, and a Bit of Manual Hustle
Here's a quick update on what’s new behind the scenes.
First, I fixed an annoying bug where the chat search only has a search scope of the first 100 episodes. I have no clue why Replit didn’t tell me that earlier. Honestly, you only find these things when you use the product, which is precisely why I now build stuff I plan to use myself.
Now, the search scans all episodes. Better.
I also added relevance scoring favouring newer episodes (starting around #850). It feels right, as Alex has better explanations about stuff than before. But is it the right choice? I'm not sure. May rethink it late.r
On top of that, keyword matching now goes across titles, descriptions, and full transcripts.
That said… the episode numbering is still a bit of a mess. I want to link each one to its page on episodes.fm, but the filenames don’t always match the actual episode numbers. I didn’t plan it out well at the start, and now I’ve gotta go in manually. Yep. Classic.
Alex, if you’re reading this, respect it. You’re scrappy. I’m learning to be too.
More to come.
